Jana
Schumacher

Jana Schumacher's main artistic interests are abstract drawing and space-related installations. Through these two forms of expression - fine and filigree on the one hand, large and space-consuming on the other - she deals in her works with themes of the unpredictable, form-finding between order and chaos, action and reaction, the connection between art and science, and even natural phenomena such as storms and cyclones. Jana Schumacher was born in Bonn in 1983. She studied design with a focus on drawing and graphics at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Since 2011, her works have been shown in regular exhibitions mainly in Germany and the USA. Since 2015, she has followed teaching and workshop commissions at US universities and other institutions together with her partner Drew Matott. Scholarship holder of the PaperResidency!
